The FrogLady

The Early Years

It all began with a rabbit named muffin. He was white. He was fluffy. And I was in love. Many animals followed and it was the love I felt for them that led me to my passion for all things wild.

I graduated from Iowa State University in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology and a specialization in Interpretation of Natural Resources (environmental education).

I absolutely loved each job I had and it never felt like I was "working". I was employed until 2007 when I had my son. It was a hard decision but I decided to quit my job at the Forest Preserve and launch FrogLady Presentations so I could spend more time at home with him.

The FrogLady has won several environmental education awards, including:

Reptile Fest 2011
1st Place People's Choice Display

Outstanding New Interpreter
National Association of Interpreation - Region 5 (IL, IA, MN, NE, ND, SD, WI, Manitoba)

For the Love of Nature

If it's natrure-related, I love it. When I'm not working you can find me hiking, backpacking, reading nature books, kayaking, gardening, and spending time with all of my animals. It's not a good day without at least one trip to the dog park with my two beloved dogs, Molly and Jake. And my greatest joy of all is trying to turn my son into a nature lover as well. I also volunteer my time serving the Chicago Herpeological Society as their Corresponding Secretary. I've been a member since 2001 and a board member since 2004. It's a fabulous society of reptile and ampibian enthusiasts. If you love herps you should join too! I would love to see you there.
